What kind of god is Yebisu no Kami?

The god Yebisu is called variously “Yebisu-sama,” “Ebisu-sama,” “Ebisu-san,” and so on.
Even today, the deity is beloved as the god of fisheries, commerce, and good harvest.
His plump body, smiling face, and large earlobes give the impression that he is a god of abundance.

Yebisu no Kami is one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune and the only Japanese god.
Of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, all but “Yebisu no Kami” seem to have originated in China or India.

According to the Kojiki and other Japanese mythology, the god Yebisu was born on Japanese soil as the first child of Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto.
