Do you know what mixed juice is?
“What? Mixed juice?”
“What is that? Is it a juice with something mixed in it?”
If you are not from Osaka, you may not know or have never heard of mixed juice.
Mixed juice is made by mixing fruits in a blender and adding milk.
There is a popular drink called “fruit au lait,” but it is more authentic if there is some pulp left in the juice. This time, we visited Sennariya Coffee, which is said to be the birthplace of mixed juice.
Note: I forgot to take a picture of the mixed juice, so I have attached the website of Sennariya Coffee. Please enjoy the photos of the mixed juice from there.
History of Sennariya Coffee, Osaka
The history of Sennariya Coffee dates back to 1948 (Showa 23).
According to the website, it started as a fruit store started by the founding owner, where he put ripe fruits in a blender.
As a coffee shop, it started in 1960.
In addition to mixed juices, the shop offers a variety of signature dishes such as siphon coffee and pudding à la mode.
In addition to the menu, the appearance of the store also has a Showa-era retro feel to it, making i want to keep looking at it and taking pictures of it.
I would look like a suspicious person if I stared at them from outside, so it was time to go inside the restaurant.
Take a break at Sennariya Coffee, Osaka
On that day, I had been visiting various restaurants, so I was relieved to see a poster of the 1970 Osaka World’s Fair on the wall.
Diagonally above it was a retro clock and a ceiling light surrounded by stained glass!
Upon entering the restaurant, I was struck by a nostalgic, time-traveling sensation.
The menu includes a variety of Showa-era coffee shop items such as their famous mixed juice, siphon coffee, pudding a la mode, pancakes, parfaits, and milkshakes.
I ordered the mixed juice, and my companion ordered the siphon coffee and pudding.
The Seriousness of Osaka’s Sennariya Coffee
The siphon coffee ordered by the person in attendance.
The taste of the coffee is very strong. It’s only possible with siphon coffee,is it?
The person in attendance commented “The coffee was well brewed with a strong flavor and was delicious. ”
This is another pudding from The Retro coffee shop!
It is sweet, has a nice pull and a nostalgic taste.
I ordered a mixed juice, which I had longed for, but in my desperation to drink it, I forgot to get it.
The mixed juice was very tasty, with a little pulp left in the juice, and the aftertaste was refreshing yet rich!
