Tempura and Temari Sushi Miyako
We had dinner at Miyako, a Temari Sushi restaurant located in Porta, a station building in Kyoto.
We ordered the Miyako-Set!
The appetizer was also good, with a great taste of dashi broth!
It was cool and easy to eat!
The main dish was also very pretty and I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures.
In addition to looking pretty, the tempura was crispy and delicious!
Small and very easy to eat, very satisfying!

What is temarizushi anyway?
Temari-zushi is a type of sushi that can be eaten in one bite.
It is shaped like a ball, which is very cute, isn’t it?
It is said to have originated in Kyoto’s Hanamachi district.
It is said that the small, easy-to-eat size sushi was created to keep the lipstick and other makeup of maiko (apprentice geisha) from falling off.
It is a very moving experience to be able to feel the history.
How to make temarizushi?
Does it sound difficult to make Temari-zushi?
Surprisingly, it does not seem to be.

Cook the rice a little firm, pour the sushi vinegar over it, and let it cool for a while.
Place your favorite ingredients on a piece of plastic wrap, place the cooled rice on top of the ingredients, and then roll the rice into a ball!

Please give it a try!
